'Cue Modern Barbecue And the Cake Club
This post is WAYYYYYY behind. I lost momentum on this one, mostly because the pics were in J's phone. Plus we were eating out almost everyday because of work, so I posted about other restaurants instead.
A lot of people were posting and posting photos from CUE in their Instagram accounts. After a few weeks of torture looking at the photos, I thought to myself, "the heck, masubukan nga!" The pictures all looked crazy-good!
After one of my meetings, we decided to give it a try! I had seen Cue already before from the outside, after eating at Slice, so we didn't have problems finding it. Again, since we were late lunch eaters, there were no crowds and the place was quite empty. (We came back a few weeks later at 1PM and it was quite full!) PS, this was the day of the minor explosion at the building beside this, and we were wondering why people were running around. May explosion pala =P (I tell ya, we've got great timing when it comes to these things.)
We had the following. Prices up front for this write-up! Steak Tacos P485, Baby Back Half P645, Sweet Potato Fries P85, BBQ Brisket P335, Iced Tea P90.
You know, I know it sounds like I say everything is good in the blog. The thing is, I have eaten in really bad placed or so-so and overhyped placed, and I thought it would be better to just keep quiet then write anything negative about the companies. They could have been having a bad day when I was there, or they were just on soft openings, so I don't mention them anymore. But I really love writing about delicious restaurants.
'Cue is one of those restaurants.
We just asked for the most recommended dishes, and the Steak Tacos, Baby Balk Half Ribs, and BBQ Brisket Pasta were those dishes. Steak Tacos were super deadly good. Bone marrow (OH MY KRYPTONITE!) with pieces of beef that you can wrap into mini tacos with corn salsa. Ohhhh soooo good.
The Baby Back Half Ribs were soft and juicy (they'll ask you if you want it dry or wet, we tried both on separate occasions and I enjoyed the wet version better.) They came with 2 sauces, thought I barely tried them because, on their own, the ribs were very good. Falling off the bone. Better than Racks (sorry Racks!) I guess that's assumed, considering the price difference. FYI, Half Ribs comes with only 1 free siding, which is why we ordered an additional one. If you buy the Whole Rib, it comes with 2 sidedishes. The whipped mashed potatoes we had were also sinfully delisssshhh.
The BBQ Brisket Pasta was so-so, but only because by the time we got to it, we were overloaded with beef already. So I can't say much. Nasobrahan na kame with all that meat by that time, haha!
On my 2nd time to go there, a couple of days ago, we had the Banana Split in a Jar (P220.) This was really really good. I can say that sincerely. And yes, everything else was still consistently yummy. (We didn't order the pasta anymore though.)
The interiors of the place are really nice as well. Clever! The chairs are all different, they have cowhide on the ceiling, and posters of parts of the cow on the walls. Everything is cheeky, yet still classy. Highly highly highllllllyyy recommend this restaurant. Unless you're a healthy-eater kind of person or a vegetarian. Please procede to the restaurant smack across the plaza, Slice.
If you're in the area, and you've got money to burn, proceed to the dessert place right above Cue -- The Cake Club by Diamond Hotel. Rockwell shoppers are familiar with this, as the Diamond Hotel has a branch at Power Plant. Displayed are their hotel bestsellers, as well as yummy offerings by Royce Chocolates.
We didn't have money to burn, but we were extremely curious. I had just bought Ube Ensaymada (P119.40 each) for my mom to try, and they had Foie Gras Macarons. Oh my. We had to try it, even the price (P137.14) was crazy for a piece. Okay, I just have to say, it tastes almost exactly like salted caramel macarons. So I wasn't so into that. But J had this green dessert with fruits and cream inside called the Vanessa (P228.57), and THAT was delicious. Heaven in our mouths! They serve tea and other main viands as well, so you can also have a full meal there.

So definitely, if you're having a date and you're in Fort, these places are top-notch and will definitely impress your date! For the price, well, I wouldn't suggest going there everyday! But since it's placed in Fort, what can you expect right?
Next on our must-try list -- IHOP! (Everyone says it's overhyped, but I gotta try those pancakes anyways!)
