Sam Won (BF Homes, Paranaque)

Parking = FULL

Having worked in BF Homes for a good 3 years, we've eaten in a LOT of restaurants in BF Homes. Hands down, one of our favorites is Borgo, which I've raved about several times in this blog. There are other great restaurants located in BF area, which is why I never gave Sam Won a second look.

One day, Justin pointed out Sam Won, and observed that it always had full parking. I told him that we would try it next time we were in the area (I admit, this was a half-hearted comment since I wasn't interested in Korean cuisine, hehe.)

The opportunity arose one diet/starvation day, where I couldn't/shouldn't have my favorite pasta and desserts. So I told J that we might as well try Sam Won, since *tears* I couldn't have my favorite food anyways. We were doing a no carbs diet for a few days/years, so off we headed to Sam Won.

Tadaaa! Here we are!
I am soooo glad I gave it a try!

I had no idea what Sam Won served (except that it was a Korean restaurant, of course!) so I was surprised to see several exhaust hoses hanging down on top of the tables
Exhausts Galore!
There were regular table setups, and there were tables where you could sit down on the floor with these comfy wooden seats. We were immediately served their color house tea, which was refreshing and had a very mild taste.

Upon perusing the menu, it seems that their forte is their grilled items, which are grilled right in front of you (therefore, the need for exhaust hoses above the grill). You need to order a minimum of 2 grill items for this to be done in front of you. Otherwise, they will cook this in their kitchen and serve. The rates are pretty reasonable (you'll see why later on), and it would be better to order 2 if there are 2 of you. Unless you're light eaters, like us *insert chortle here*.
Justin peering intro the grill
The small circular grill is opened up, and they place charcoal inside. After placing the top back on top, there's a fan that makes the grill hotter. The hose pulls out all the smoke. I think this is something that has been done in several restaurants, but it was our first time to give it a try.
Please note that these pictures are 3 servings, not 1
More yummy dishes
Served with every 2 orders from the grill menu
After ordering, we were immediately served these "sidedishes". I'm assuming that this was supposed to go with our meal, but we gobbled everything up. Everything was so good! (Hasta la vista diet!) I don't know the names of the dishes, but some were fish cakes, marbled potatoes, togue, and kimchi. It also came with a basket of fresh lettuce. After cooking the meat, we rolled the meat inside the lettuce with some of the sidedishes. Everything came with this korean paste and fresh garlic slices, plus sesame oil with something sprinkled in it. All so good!

Soup
We got this soup too.. I didn't really keep track of the name and the taste either, I was so taken by the grilled meat that I barely touched this!

Beef, beef belly, some mushrooms

Everything was DELICIOUS. If you're on a diet, this is a good place to go to, just eat the veggies and don't order rice with anything.  The beef alone is so filling! We tried their "Pancake" too during another visit, and it was also sooo good.

We went back several times since then, and even brought the kids! Mika and Josh loved the fact that we could a) sit on the floor and b) watch our food being grilled in front of us. Though they weren't so into the veggies (which we expected), they really liked the beef belly.

Mika enjoys the tea!
This place is highly recommended. The veggies are always freshly prepared, and the meat is always so soft. I have yet to try other dishes in the restaurant, I think I have to try to move on from their Grilled Beef, haha!
