Mommy MJ

A few weeks ago, I was saddened to read that another mommy lost her baby. Mommy MJ lost her son at 32 weeks, while he was still inside her. Her friend told her that she could donate the milk to babies in need, and though mourning, she posted in the Human Milk for Human Babies - Philippines page that she was willing to donate. MiAnn of Babymama pitched in and offered to lend her a pump for this, and Mommy Zel offered to lend her a pump as well. Though I am sad for her and her family's sudden loss, I am so happy that she has stepped forward and decided to help other moms. I'm sure it helps her. She's from the same industry as I am (kiddie parties) so I know that work can be hectic, but she continues to donate until now. Wonderful!! I feel the exact same way! My current thoughts now are focused on helping other families and babies. There are several reasons why donating milk is so important. This deserves a separate entry, but I read one good example this afte...

Dwindling Milk

Ever since my sickness a few weeks back, my milk supply hasn't gone back to normal. This is what it feels like pala, when you try and try and nothing happens to the milk. I've been taking fenugreek *yuck* and pumping more often, but still, no response. It's so disappointing. I don't know if it has anything to do with my cough for the last week. It looks like I have t go back to a specialist, because it feels like the asthma I developed during my last few weeks of pregnancy. Huwattt?? I hope it's not asthma. I've been sleeping more also to get back in top shape, but still, no effect! I just ordered brownies today from Mommytreats . Crossing my fingers that it works!

My Milk Buddies

Breastfeeding and Breastpumping are true struggles. It's no joke, and I applaud women who exclusively breastfeed their kids for 6 months. A lot of women initially struggle with breastfeeding and their supply. I get asked often, how I built such a large supply even if I don't have a baby? Truth be told, if Kat was alive, I don't doubt that my supply would be double, if I could handle it! Hearing your baby cry, her touch, helps the let-down process. Working with a machine isn't the same. However, I have milk buddies that made this easier for me. PS. This is not a sponsored post, but a purely rave review of my suppliers =D First and foremost, I could not pump without reliable equipment. I'm going on my 4th month, and I tell ya, without these technological gifts from Heaven, I wouldn't know what to do. All equipment below provided by my Milk Buddy  Mi'Ann of BabyMama . She is an angel, she answers all my texts right away, and delivers everything the next d...

The Past Few Months.

Transferred from tumblr. Original interview HERE . The Past Few Months. I did an online interview a few months back with MiAnn of Babymama, who supplied me my breastmilk pump. It’s a short account of the past few months of our life, and I will go into it in detail eventually. I hope to also raise  awareness on the importance of donating breastmilk. So many families are in such desperate need for donations. I’ll have several separate entries on this. I was initially apprehensive about talking about this. I was even more hesitant to do the tv interview that followed. But after a few months of meeting with the parents who needed the milk, I realized that we had to be more pro-active about this, and make it more know that donating milk saves lives. Below is the written interview: A few days worth of milk. A premie needs only about 5-10oz a day to survive.  At most, I could pump 30 oz a day. Now, at 4 months, it ranges from 14-20oz.  Melissa Menes ordered a...
