Home is Where the Heart Is.

I read somewhere that, instead or having a New Year's resolution, it was better to set a "theme" for the year. I KNOW the theme should be "HEALTH" or "SKINNY" (hahaha), but this seems to be an epic failure every year. So instead, my theme would be "HOME." This has several sub-themes (which will be explained further below.)

This year, our little family will stop traveling first, to fix our little home. It will entail a bit of sacrifice for us, as we have itchy feet. We take inspiration from the world to perform our work better. We always come back renewed and energized from our adventures, and that's what keeps us going during the long hours. So to stop seeing the world, well, will kinda kill our creative spirit! However, we need to prioritize and save. We want to grow up, and purchase a bigger space for our family eventually. We want to have something to our name, that is not related to our business. The best and fastest way to do this is to cut out travel. If we're lucky, maybe we can go back to traveling late 2014! But for now, we will focus on our HOME.

For the first time ever, we will be moving into our teeny home, completely on our own. I don't know how our stuff will fit (we have a lot of junk, more than a normal family) so we don't have a choice but to give some of the stuff away and bring only the essentials. This, therefore, leads to our sub-theme, which is "SIMPLIFY." We will get rid of the things that we don't need, stuff we haven't used in the last year. We will learn to let go.

And last but not the least sub-theme - FAMILY. Our work has been running us to the ground, requiring late hours and most weekends. For the past year, we've hardly seen our kids! As we move into our new home, we will be losing our one and only Yaya, who has taken care of our kids for years. She will be retiring to be with her family, and I have no plans of replacing her. So who will be taking care of the kids? We will. We'll be forced to slow down and prioritize our time, so this is perhaps a blessing in disguise. I am REALLY crossing my fingers that this works out.

Happy New Year to everyone! May you all find the perfect "theme" that you can live out this 2014.
